About IPP Committee in Action
IPP Committee in Action is an international civil society movement campaigning for the complete retrospective abolition of every remaining IPP and DPP sentence. Founded through sustained family advocacy, the movement brings together people directly affected by IPP, relatives, victims and survivors of crime, researchers, practitioners, legal and clinical specialists, and human rights allies. Our work combines lived experience, rigorous evidence, public advocacy and institutional engagement. We seek truth about the creation and continuing operation of IPP, accountability for preventable harm, meaningful reparation for those affected and guarantees that such injustice cannot recur. Through the People’s Inquiry into the IPP Sentence, we are building an independent public record of what happened, why recognised harms were permitted to continue and what justice now requires.
From Family Advocacy to International Action
IPP Committee in Action grew from the determination of families who refused to allow the human consequences of the IPP sentence to remain unseen. What began as sustained grassroots advocacy has develped into an international movement bringing together lived experience, family testimony, independent research and institutional engagement. Our work carries those voices into Parliament, the media, international human-rights forums and The People’s Inquiry - turning personal experience into evidence, accountability and action.
